An investigation has been carried out into the use of two crystals of the olivine family, forsterite and olivine, CrMg2SiO4 and Cr:~Mg,Fe! SiO4, respectively, in optical fiber fluorescence thermometry. The results show that the Cr31-based emission in the near-infrared is dominant under pumping with light from a red diode laser, and a useful sensor performance in the 200° region around room temperature is seen using probes constructed from these materials.

Abstract
An investigation has been carried out into the use of two crystals of the olivine family, forsterite and olivine, CrMg2SiO4 and Cr:~Mg,Fe! SiO4, respectively, in optical fiber fluorescence thermometry. The results show that the Cr31-based emission in the near-infrared is dominant under pumping with light from a red diode laser, and a useful sensor performance in the 200° region around room temperature is seen using probes constructed from these materials.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
