The purity of the 28Si crystal used for the determination of the Avogadro constant is essential to prevent biased results or under-evaluated uncertainties. In this framework, we developed a relative analytical method based on neutron activation and previously applied to a sample of the Avogadro natural silicon crystal WASO 04. The method was extended to fifty-nine elements and applied to a silicon crystal highly enriched in 28Si. The results of the analysis showed a significant contamination of 76Ge, mass fraction of (2.98 ± 0.08) × 10-7, and traces of 71Ga, 75As, 169Tm, 176Lu, 181Ta, 186W and 191Ir, mass fractions between 1 × 10-14 and 1 × 10-10. For the fifty-one isotopes which remained undetected, the present analysis achieved mass fraction detection limits ranging between 1 × 10-13 and 1 × 10-6

Abstract
For the fifty-one isotopes which remained undetected, the present analysis achieved mass fraction detection limits ranging between 1 × 10-13 and 1 × 10-6I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
